Description
Biolog, Inc., a privately held Bay Area biotech company established in 1984, is seeking a Sr. Director or Vice President of Cell Biology Business Development to continue expansion of our business base. Biolog is a world leader in cell-based phenotypic testing technologies and assays. We have focused our efforts on developing technologies and products to test properties of cells (phenotypes) simply, efficiently, and in high throughput as a fundamental cornerstone of biology research.
This position will have responsibility for developing business in cell based assays for our expanding technology and product line. You will develop and execute a plan to generate revenue and achieve company targets. Your responsibilities will be to initiate, manage and execute business opportunities to sell products and/or services, or establish collaborations, partnerships and licensing agreements. In part, this will require identifying decision makers and leaders in research and development and drug discovery and interacting with them to determine important applications. In this position you will also interact with internal research and development, providing input to product applications, development, and improvements. The targeted prospects for these efforts includes pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies as well as university and government research centers both domestically and internationally.
Requirements
This position requires a candidate with an advanced degree, e.g. Ph.D. in life sciences, cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry or molecular biology, and a minimum of 5 years experience in business development and sales or marketing to the biology research industry. The ideal candidate will have proven success in rolling out and launching new technologies and establishing interest and sales to university and government laboratories and pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. The candidate should also have good knowledge of the drug discovery process, including cell assay technologies as they facilitate lead development. Excellent organizational and presentational skills are required, as well as excellent written and verbal communications skills. Should also have a proven track record and experience in working independently and meeting corporate goals. Significant travel may be required to visit customers and prospects and to exhibit at appropriate trade shows.
