Cell Biology Product and Sales Manager


Biolog, a Hayward, CA-based company selling to life sciences customers, seeks a Cell Biology Product and Sales Manager to sell instrumentation and consumables for the new mammalian cell Phenotype MicroArray product line and provide customers with technical application support. We are looking for someone with demonstrated experience and capability in selling cell biology instrumentation and consumables, and also a track record in developing relationships and R&D applications with key opinion leaders in specific market areas of cell-based applications, such as bioprocess development, toxicology, stem cell culturing and cell metabolism studies. Experience and familiarity with cell based assays, culture medium optimization, cell-line characterization, and stem cell biology are required. The primary responsibility of this position will be to close sales with qualified leads. Candidates will also be expected to prospect for new customers within Discovery and BioProcess groups in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as well as at major not-for-profit research centers. Candidates should also be able to help develop and conduct customer training courses in instrument use and data analysis, provide pre- and post-sales technical application support, troubleshoot technical issues that arise, and gather customer feedback regarding methodologies, assay development, applications and product use. Additional expectations for this position will be to train and make technical presentations for other sales staff in the US and our international distributors, and to suggest and help develop new product applications and improvements to existing protocols. Candidates would ideally be based in the Bay Area or on the East Coast.

Qualifications

This position requires a Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, or other relevant life science discipline, and a minimum of 2 years experience in technical sales, product management, field applications support or marketing to life science research labs. The successful candidate should be a ³people person² with substantial knowledge of the drug discovery process and would ideally have experience with mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, stem cell research, or bioprocess development. Demonstrated success in helping to roll out and launch new technologies by garnering interest and sales with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies would be advantageous. Excellent organizational and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to deliver polished presentations to principal investigators and corporate decision makers. A proven track record and experience in working autonomously and meeting corporate goals is mandatory. Travel will be required to visit and make presentations to customers and prospects and to exhibit at trade shows and scientific meetings.
