  Integrative Conjugative Element ICE-▀ox Confers Oxidative Stress Resistance to Legionella pneumophila In Vitro and in Macrophages
The authors characterize the effect of an integrative conjugative element on L. pneumophila survival inside macrophages. They show that ICE-βox integrates site specifically and use PMs to show that it also results in increased resistance to beta lactam antibiotics and oxidative stress. The element was shown to increase resistance to phagocyte oxidase activity, thereby promoting survival.

  Link Between Intraphagosomal Biotin and Rapid Phagosomal Escape in Francisella
This paper focuses on how pathogens can respond to harsh nutrient limiting conditions in the phagosome. Phenotype MicroArrays were used to characterize a mutant, which is required for escape from phagosomes. Biolog's nutrient stimulation PM microplate identified biotin as able to complement the mutant's growth defect and biotin was found to restore defects in phagosomal escape and replication.

  Comparative Genomics of Brachyspira pilosicoli Strains: Genome Rearrangements, Reductions and Correlation of Genetic Compliment with Phenotypic Diversity
These authors report the second whole genome sequence for the anaerobic spirochaete Brachyspira pilosicoli (strain B2904). Phenotype MicroArrays confirm a lack of glucuronate metabolism in strain 95/1000 that was predicted by comparative genomics. These are the first detailed comparisons of B. pilosicoli genotype and phenotype.
